Registering a Non-Profit in Rwanda, South Africa or Nigeria?

Registering a non-profit can be challenging especially in countries where the information is not readily available.  As part of our continent-wide research we are putting together a list of regulatory agencies responsible for non-profit registration. We hope you find this useful if you’re thinking of starting up a non-profit in any of these countries.

How To Register

To register, send an application letter to CEO/RGB; authenticated statutes; document showing the organization’s head office and its full address; contact details, CV and judicial record of all legal representatives of the organization; the minute and the signatures of all the members that attended the general assembly which appointed the legal representatives; action plan for the fiscal year; original District Collaboration letter issued by the Mayor and declaration of two legal representatives certifying power of attorney to RGB. To obtain legal personality, send an application letter to the CEO/RGB and a copy of the temporary registration certificate to RGB.

How To Register

Send NPO application form to the Department of Social Development, two copies of the organization’s founding documents which must include deeds of trust and letter of authorisation from the courts, certificate of incorporation and memorandum and articles of association and organization’s constitution.

How To Register

Send 2 copies of application form containing a memorandum for guidance of application, with the common seal affixed on page 11 of the form and trustees’ signatures; 3 national dailies publications – one being a local newspaper widely circulated in the area where the organization is based; 2 copies of applicant’s constitution; minutes of the meeting whereat the trustees were appointed, having the list of members present and absent and showing the voting pattern, signed by Chairman and Secretary of the Board and minutes of the meeting where the special clause rules was adopted into the constitution of the organization; signed by Secretary and Chairman to CAC.
